XXL Reports: Now is the unveiling of XXL’s April issue’s cover featuring the 10 Freshmen for ’10. Hip-hop fans got a sneak peak of the mag’s special cover yesterday on MTV2’s Sucker Free, when it was first seen publically and today (March 1) it hits the web.

The new breed of hustlers includes: Roc Nation’s first signee J. Cole, gangsta rap up-and-comer Nipsey Hu$$le, newly-minted Asylum lyricist Pill, 1017 Brick Squad member OJ Da Juiceman, indie-sensation Wiz Khalifa, G.O.O.D. music’s own Big Sean, underground favorite Fashawn, Gary, Indiana rep Freddie Gibbs, West Coast phenom Jay Rock and the latest addition to the Atlantic roster, Donnis.

In addition to the special issue, XXL will also be dropping an exclusive DJ Whoo Kid mixtape next Monday (March 8)— available for free on XXLMag.com, radioplanet.tv and thisis50.com— featuring new music from all ten of the cover stars. Whoo Kid will also be playing select cuts from the tape while the artists call into his show this coming Saturday (March 6) on Sirius/Shade45.

Keep an out for behind-the-scenes footage of the shoot and interviews with all the Freshmen on mtv.com/news, MTV2’s Sucker Free and here at XXLMag.com. Looks like there has been a change of plans over at the Redman camp. His upcoming album will now be called Reggie and this is the new cover. No released date as of yet. Props to Nav.

Looks like Tony Yayo’s new mixtape is coming very soon, no exact date is set but the final cover can only mean we are closer to release.

Following the success of “Halfway House” and the much-anticipated “Padded Room,” Joe Budden and Amalgam Digital are excited to announce the release of “Escape Route”. The digital-only album will be made available exclusively on AmalgamDigital.com August 11th, 2009. “Escape Route” marks the third installment in Budden’s inspired saga sequence that has already brought fans such releases as “Halfway House” and “Padded Room,” and will culminate with the groundbreaking “The Great Escape.”

Escape Route aims to set a new precedent for Budden as he begins to map out his escape by enlisting guest appearances from Wale, Slaughterhouse, and Young Chris as well as production from 9th Wonder, Streetrunner, Chad West, and J.
