Soulja Boy Arrested

soulja boy arrested

In another case of dumb rappers that need teaching, Soulja Boy (Deandre Cortez Way) was arrested Wednesday night after (according to a police spokesperson) an officer went to check out what was believed to be an abandoned house in the Henry County area, after he was told there were a bunch of people hanging out in the backyard.

When the officer got there he saw some women walking towards the yard and asked them to stop but when they didn’t, he followed them into the yard. When he got there he noticed about forty people partying. When the people there noticed the police officer there they began to run away, one of those people was Soulja Boy.

Soulja Boy eventually returned to the home to retrieve his Range Rover and that’s when he was arrested for obstruction of justice which is a misdemeanor. It has been said that Soulja Boy was shooting a music video.

Soulja Boy has already been released, no need for all you 13 year old Soulja Boy fans to rush to twitter and scream FREE SOULJA BOY just yet….

VH1’s Behind The Music: T.I. [Video]

T.I, aka Clifford Harris Jr, grew up on the tough streets of Atlanta’s Bankhead neighborhood, an area filled with crime, violence and drugs. By the time he was 18, he was a high school dropout who was behind bars for dealing crack. <p> Stuck in a cell, he channeled his frustration and sadness into rhymes, talking about “life in the trap.” Paroled, he quickly turned those rhymes into a rap career and inked a deal with LaFace Records. But after his first album flopped, he was dumped from the label and was back to square one. This time, T.I took to the streets with his own independent mix tapes and generated enough buzz to get a second chance. Signing a new deal with Atlantic Records, he broke thru with the successful 2003 release “Trap Muzik.” But once again, just as T.I began to make progress, he ended up on the wrong side of the law. Busted for gun possession, he spent another six months in jail. Upon his release, his career took off and by 2006, T.I was on top of the world. Then tragedy would rock his world forever. When a bar room brawl escalated into a shoot out, T.I watched his close friend, Philant Johnson, die. Riddled with guilt, T.I went into a tailspin and suddenly his life as a celebrity was filled with paranoia and threats against his life. To protect himself, he began collecting a vast array of weapons. In 2007, while attempting to buy another firearm, T.I was set up in a sting operation and busted by federal agents. Facing 30 years in prison, T.I settled on a unique deal: one year behind bars and 1500 hours of community service. Using his charismatic personality, T.I has thrived in his role of mentor, reaching out to troubled youth and preaching against the very mistakes he once made. T.I is admittedly a reformed man, and while he says he will never get over the death of his friend, he is at peace with past, is currently serving his prison sentence and looks forward to working for a “higher cause.” – VH1

Slim Thug – Still A Boss Feat. Peter Hadar & Young Black [Video + Audio]

On last night’s episode, The Daily Show will follow up by debuting Slim Thug’s video for “Still a Boss,” a new song which will parody Thugga’s real life struggle with juggling his duties as a rapper and the realities of the recession.

In advance of last night’s episode XXLMag.com caught up with Cenac to talk about how the collaboration came about and what we can expect from tonight’s world premiere.

According to Cenac the idea for it came about after a Texas governor went in front of the Senate to appeal for a bailout of chicken farmers in his district, after the Cash for Clunkers program received funds. The idea sounded silly, but for Cenac, this governor raised some legitimate questions.

“As he [the Texas governor] was talking about how much that chicken factory meant to his district… it was like… well you can make that argument about anybody,” Wyatt said. “And rappers they promote spending by having fancy cars, and fancy clothes and if anybody should receive a bailout, why not rappers?”

So they teamed up with the Houston MC to investigate the issue in this segment, which, all jokes aside may sound like scripted jokes, but includes actual accounts of things that have happened to the Houston rapper personally.

“It was all him,” Cenac said. “He told us this story about being thrown out of a strip club for not tipping and that was a real thing. I don’t remember the name of the strip club but he was really upset about it. When we do these pieces, we’re talking to people and we’re gauging their honest reactions to things. We wind up sort of saying and doing stupid things and they just kind of react to it.”

Wyatt, who admits to being a big hip-hop admirer, says that the segment was not only fun to put together, but necessary at a time like this. “I’m a big fan, so it was fun…,” Wyatt shared. “Just kind of looking at this issue because you do see it in videos and there are people who talk about it. We’re going through some pretty tough economic times …you do still see a lot of rappers talking about how good they have it and it’s sort of a weird thing.”

“Still a Boss” was written by Slim along with Cenac and Von Pea of the rap group Tanya Morgan (who also produced the song). The video will premiere tonight at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central. -XXL

President Barack Obama Has Won The 2009 Nobel Peace Prize

Barack Obama Wins Nobel Peace prize President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday, a stunning decision that comes just eight months into his presidency. The Norwegian Nobel Committee said it honored Obama for his “extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples.” The president had not been mentioned as among front-runners for the prize, and the roomful of reporters gasped when Thorbjorn Jagland, chairman of the Nobel committee, uttered Obama’s name. The president, who was awakened to be told he had won, said he was humbled to be selected, according to an administration official. The Nobel committee recognized Obama’s efforts to solve complex global problems including working toward a world free of nuclear weapons. Read the rest of this entry »
